Ecks

KRS-One has claimed Washington D.C. native Ecks to be the future of hip hop. Ecks first appeared on KRS-One’s “Take It To God,” but at the time he went as Professor Ecks. That was back in 2002. Now, Ecks has appeared on numerous mixtapes from Mick Boogie and Streetsweepers to name a couple. The DC MC will draw comparisons to Jay-Z. He does the same ‘whoos’, ‘yesss’, and ‘chyea’ adlibs Hova constantly throws in his verses.
Ecks doesn’t just get in the booth, spit his 16 bars, and book it; he is the head honcho at New Regime Records, along with being a producer. 50 Cent, The Roots, and M-1 have also noted Ecks holding potential, by billing him as an opening act.
Ecks teamed up with DJ Lt. Dan to make the double disc mixtape, Rebuilding: The Mixtape. Since it is a mixtape, plus a double album, you can expect to hear some filler, but for most of the record, Ecks and his fellow New Regime soldiers hold their ground. But I do want to mention that I completely disagree with whomever chose the singles, “Water 2 A Whale” and “Gat Aimed Stereo”, because I think they are the two worst songs on the mixtape.

I’d definitely watch out for Metro Beats, who is part of New Regime. Psy Young who appears on a few songs, carries some heat too.
